A complete load of bollocks, occasionally hilarious. A lot of made up Mysteries of the Unknown type pseudoscience type stuff that was popular at the time, and everyone seemed to have a copy. Without any redeeming features except as light entertainment.

About the Author
Errol Flynn was an Australian-born American actor. He was known for his romantic swashbuckler roles in Hollywood films and his flamboyant lifestyle. After starring in Captain Blood (1935), Flynn became an overnight sensation, quickly becoming typecast as a swashbuckler and a rogue in a number of successive films. He followed Captain Blood with The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936), and after his appearance as Miles Hendon in The Prince and the Pauper (1937), he was cast in his most celebrated role as Robin Hood in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) - his first film in Technicolor. He went on to appear in The Dawn Patrol (1938) with David Niven, Dodge City (1939), The Sea Hawk (1940) and Adventures of Don Juan (1948). Throughout the 1950s his health deteriorated due to heavy alcohol and drug abuse, and he died in 1959 of a heart attack. His autobiography, My Wicked, Wicked Ways was published posthumously later that year.

The Life of Errol Flynn Put to Paper - A Lesson in Writing about Yourself and Other Lessons to Learn

I admit I read this five years, but I still have great memories of it. I have read many a biography and autobiography in my life, but this is the best and my favorite, bar none. Period. Whether it was because it was so well and vividly written, whether because of the man in question, or whether because it takes place on the Golden Age of Hollywood, or all of the above, this comes out at you in full force, honestly and straight-forward. The places Errol Flynn has been. The movies. The loves. The losses. All other biographies pale in comparison. This is the standard by which all other bios will be judged and will never measure up to. This is the only one I would reread, and you'll want to start over once you finish it.

This guy is amazing!

I didn't expect I would enjoy it as much as I did - after all, he was only a pretty faced action movie star.
Flynn tends to come out on top, even at the expense of friends and lovers. So it's a good book to practice your suspension of disbelief and suspension of moral codes and ethics.
A modern day Baron Munchausen.

Hysterical, insightful, and bittersweet

I am halfway through what has to be the wildest autobiography (or biography) I have ever read. I'm not sure how much is strictly true, how much is exaggerated, and how much is completely made up--although I'm sure somewhere on the Internet someone has done an analysis--but Flynn can write like few others. There is actually a slight letdown when he gets to England and becomes a full-time actor, then goes on to Hollywood. After all, before that he was a member of a Sydney street gang, a less than stellar boat captain, an overseer of tobacco and coconut plantations in New Guinea, a gold miner in the same place, a slave trader (just a sideline!), and a jewel thief. Let me see--what else--tried for the murder of a native in New Guinea, a deserter from the Hong Kong contingent deployed to defend Shanghai from the Japanese--it goes on and on. Hard to imagine any of today's actors actually having any sort of real life adventures--or even a real life.

Oh yes, back to the opening quote. So after landing 100 miles from Chicago and getting drunk, he buys a baby lion cub, takes it in a taxi to Chicago, hands the leash to the desk clerk--and never sees it again.
